About the Graduate Gemologist Diploma Program

Diamonds and colored gemstones are the jewelry industry’s heart and passion. If you want to work in this most glamorous and fashionable world, you need to know them better than you know your own name. GIA’s Graduate Gemologist (GG) Diploma Program provides you with the essential skills of an experienced jewelry professional – how to grade and identify diamonds and colored gemstones.

You’ll learn proven techniques from the creators of the International Diamond Grading System™. You’ll also discover exactly what to look for, and what to look out for, to determine a diamond’s quality and value. With your newly acquired grading and identification skills, you can walk into any gem dealer’s office anywhere in the world and make profitable buying and selling decisions with the insight of an experienced professional.

But diamonds are just the beautiful beginning. The jewelry industry is also about colored gemstones. In the colored stones and gem identification portion of this program, you take a enlightening journey into the mines, down supply chains, and onto the market. Learn and practice how to look at a stone and judge its color, quality, and value. Then use that knowledge and experience in the gem district of Bangkok, at a tradeshow floor in Basel, or wherever your career and dream take you.
